Hm, that depends entirely on the specific circuit
 training. I would recommend integrating Pilates into a daily routine. It's an awesome way to maintain your body and get better at other exercises.

No, I'm in fact Stott Pilates trained, not method. And as you probably know, Pilates is based on various forms of exercise and some of the best teachers integrate other exercises by applying
 the Pilates principles, which is what I have done here. It is not, so to speak "authentic" Pilates.

Interesting. Could you shoot me through some references at all? I have seen this way of squatting taught on quite a few Pilates DVDs and in classes. When you say arching back in, are you referring to extending lower back or hingeing forwards from hips? If feet were closer together, I would be teaching
 the exercise with hinge/ lean from the hips. but as feet are far apart, most teachers I know seem to teach with neutral alignment through spine. Shoot me a line via my website?

Fantastic answer! Some clients
 do not like "bulking" up their muscles too much (and even feel this bulks them up) in which case you would want to do things like running and walking - lots of reps, little load. Let me know if you'd like any further advice.

 could just be that she has really long legs, but you want to sit a little deeper to activate more muscle fibres. If she went a few inches lower it would be more intense thus getting better results.

What you do is just widening the legs, similar to a box squat. It is the same, the knees should not go in front of the foot. The alignment should be the same. Knees should go "downwards" not forward, squat
 is basicly sitting. You need to sit the same way, moving the butt away from the legs. Squat is a squat, and the knees should be in alignment with the foot and the back should be straight by arching the lower back in.

Right, that sounds essentially like what I do. Back in neutral curve (that's your "straight with arching lower back in" but
 in Pilates lingo) knees over toes, pointing out at same angle. Glad we're on the same page. :-)

Haha! True, I have really long legs - seeing I'm very tall, too. Appreciate going lower would make it more
 intense. It would also get to a point of m knees being under a bit much strain - they don't like too deep a bend as I had a knee operation when younger. So yes, 100% agree, more intense if lower! Thank you!
